Safety On Course
GETTING LOST
The course will be super well marked, but fatigued runners tend to develop tunnel vision.
Keep your wits about you and keep an eye out for pink and orange markings/ribbons/cones on course.
Digital maps (CAPRA) have been provided to participants, but familiarising yourself with the course beforehand could save you a lot of time on the day.
Ideally, bring a mobile phone on the Telstra network so you can contact others. (Telstra appears to have the best coverage).
On the reverse of the timing bib provided will be the mobile phone numbers for the Race Director and Medical Team Leader, who may be able to help orientate you or assist.
LEAVING THE COURSE
Entrants who leave the course during the event eg. for a toilet stop, getting lost or meeting up with support people; must re-enter the course at the point they left the course. Lost entrants may use any legal method to get back to the course, but must re-enter where they left and resume running from that point.
MEDICAL SUPPORT AND FIRST AID BY EVENT SAFETY SERVICES
Event Safety Services (ESS) is the official medical and safety provider of the Hounslow Classic. ESS provides exceptional medical support services for outdoor events all year round and they will support all athletes on-course during all events.
On the reverse of the timing bib provided will be the mobile phone numbers for the Race Director and Medical Team Leader, who may be able to help orientate or assist you on course if needed.
ESS will also provide medical care near the start / finish line for the duration of the event.
SWEEPERS
A sweeper will be deployed onto the course with the aim of ensuring there’s no one left on the course unaccounted for and to advise race officials where the last athlete is on course.
If you leave the trail at any time, please leave your pack on the trail so the sweeper doesn’t go past you.
