Course Description

The Hounslow Marathon is the Pinnacle of trail running, giving runners a taste of everything from jaw dropping cliffs and waterfalls, to deep canyons, to ancient Giant Forests, to rolling dirt roads and breathtakingly steep trails.

Starting at Allview Escape, runners will make their way across the stony clifftops to the Grand Canyon. Heading clockwise, the race will complete the loop through the canyon. First to the stunning views of Evans Lookout, from there you will descend into the luscious trails of this ancient canyon, through carved walls and past swirling pools. The climb will sap your energy before reemerging to Neates Glen and recoup at the Grand Canyon Aid Station. Hightail your way back to Allview Escape to see to reset for Round 2!

The second part of the course will endeavour upon the famous out and back to the Pinnacles Car Park. Heading out along Hat Hill Rd to Perrys Lookdown Aid Station, the race plunges deep into the Grose Wilderness to where the Giant Blue Gum Forest awaits. Cross the Grose River to begin the exposed ascent up to the chiselled Lockleys Pylon. This Peak will make you stop in awe of the surrounding landscape before pushing on to traverse to the Pinnacles and the much needed relief at the Aid Station at the Car Park.

Calm your nerves before embarking on your return journey through the valley, up the steps of Perrys Lookdown, and onward to the much anticipated finish line.

This Marathon is not for the faint hearted, with 2500m of ascent it is sure to test anyone’s resolve.
